D0508-D0509 - 600A 15kV 1Ø Line-Tension Disconnect Switch

Notes:

1. Line-tension disconnect switches may be used in lieu of under-arm disconnect switches for adding 1Ø disconnect switches to existing 3Ø structures without re-framing. Underarm disconnect switches are preferred for most applications (see Compatible Unit D0502 and Assembly Units 12F703, 12F705, 12F706 and 12F707.
2. Line tension switches are suitable for installation on full tension spans. Do not use line tension switches on reduced tension or slack spans.
3. To minimize switch movement on double circuit flat construction install conductor spacers no farther than 2' past the switches (see compatible Unit I0320A).
4. Switches shall be oriented to pull open toward the pole. Whenever possible, switches should be mounted on the normal vehicle approach side of the pole.
5. Avoid hanging switches in proximity to other pole mounted equipment (transformers, risers, etc.) that would interfere with their operation.
6. 3Ø Group operated switches should be used for most feeder tie switch installations (refer to Compatible Unit’s D0503, D0504 and D0505). 1Ø disconnect switches are appropriate for feeder terminal poles and temporary switch installations.
7. Specify one hanging switch number identifier plate for each 3Ø installation of line tension disconnect switches. See W0207 (336.4 AAC) and W0208 (795 AAC) for identifier plates and numeric labels with which to create switch numbers.
