12F718 - Switch, 600A 15kV Gang-Operated Alley Arm Framing

Notes:

1. The appropriate wing-arm switch must be ordered separately, depending on primary alley arm orientation. Order Compatible Unit D0503 for right-hand type and Compatible Unit D0504 for left-hand type.
2. Preferred spacing between switch arm and neutral is 5’-0”. Minimum allowable spacing is 4’-0”.
3. Refer to switch installation instructions for switch and operating mechanism mounting and adjustment.
4. Install switch on class 2 or larger pole.
5. Install pole and switch handle to enable operator to face oncoming traffic in adjacent lane.
6. Ground switch control rod and handle with single ground plate or ground rod. Refer to Compatible Unit N0106. Depending on switch type, connect switch control rod or switch control handle to ground wire as shown in switch grounding detail drawing.
7. Max. mounting height to bottom of switch arm with operating rod supplied in standard package: 31’-7” for S&C switch.
8. Maximum mounting height to bottom of switch arm using extra operating pipe: 55’-9” for S&C switch.
9. Assembly includes an S&C control rod extension (Compatible Unit D0506SC) for a maximum switch installation height of 52’ above grade. When switch mounting height is less than 38’ above ground, remove Compatible Unit D0506SC from the assembly.
10. Using black and yellow reflective decals, stencil switch number on control rod directly above switch operating handle (MID 5001362 - 5001371). Using 1½" green and white reflective decals, stencil year switch was installed or last maintained, whichever is more recent, on control rod above switch number (MID 5001362 - 5001371).
11. For fiberglass cross-arms, label switch numbers by applying 3" reflective decals with a yellow background (MID 5001182 - 5001202). For wood cross-arms, use Compatible Unit W0201 and 3" metallic tags.
