12F338 - 3Ø 13' Double Alley Arm Tangent

Note: This standard has been updated with a fiberglass crossarm but the drawing has yet to be updated.

Notes:

  1. Minimum 7’-0” for poles up to 45’ in height. Increase spacing to 8’-0” for poles 50’ and taller.
  2. Down guy(s) may be omitted on tangent poles with no large unbalanced power or communication attachments if the following steps are taken to avoid excessive pole deflection.
    1. Increase pole setting depth a minimum of 10% of length + 4 feet.
    2. Install expanding pole keys per Compatible Unit PF0100.
    3. Backfill with crushed rock tamped in 6" lifts.
    4. Rake the pole away from the line as follows:
      Max Wire Size: #2 ACSR, Rake: 2"
      Max Wire Size: 336.4 kcmil, Rake: 4"
      Down guy(s) or self-supporting poles are required for 795 kcmil alley arm framing.
  3. Refer to T&D Guideline 4-23-1.0 for allowable construction angles.
