Notes:

  1. Contact System Planning & Protection before specifying Trayer switchgear, per T&D Guideline 4-24-30.0.
  2. Trayer switchgear do not contain fuses. All ways contain 600A micro-processor controlled, resettable, vacuum fault interrupters (VFI) as well as motor operators. System Planning & Protection will specify the configuration for the particular application including the protection settings for ways requiring active VFIs.
  3. Apply switch number labels on exterior and interior of padmount cabinets. Apply switch number labels on the top exterior of submersible switches.
  4. Apply vault number labels on both sides of padmount cabinet exterior.
  5. Transformer Shop will apply UTC number and obstruction notice labels on both sides of cabinet.
  6. For padmount cabinets, face cable termination side of cabinet towards street or, if the street side is obstructed, face it in the direction with the most working clearance.
  7. Install Trayer padmount switch cabinets on vault C.U. V0508. C.U. V0508A may alternatively be used in certain applications. See T&D Guideline 4-4-3.6 for clearance requirements for padmount switch cabinets.
  8. When making up either 1/0 or 1100kcmil cable terminations, use Richards 600A 15kV dead-break elbow (hammerhead) equipped with 200A bushing interface to accommodate grounding elbow. See Compatible Units T1140-1.
  9. When a cable is not being terminated on a 600A bushing, install a 600A deadend cap. See C.U. T1703.
  10. Stainless steel stands are available for mounting submersible switch cabinets and their control panels to vault floors. 24 inch high stands are recommended for most installations and are ordered by default with the CU. 12 inch high stands are also available and can be used in leu of or in addition to 24 inch stands. Stands bolt to the bottom of switchgear and control panels. The same mounting holes can be used to bolt two stands together.
