1. Scope
This specification applies to uninsulated aluminum compression sleeves used in non-tension splicing of aluminum to aluminum and aluminum to copper conductors
2. Reference Standards
Except as modified herein, the sleeves shall meet the applicable requirements of the latest revisions of ANSI C119.4, EEI-NEMA, TDJ-162 and ASTM D566.
2. Construction
Uninsulated compression sleeves shall be manufactured from high-conductivity aluminum with a solid center stop. Each sleeve shall be factory filled with an oxide inhibiting compound and the ends shall be capped or sealed to prevent contamination from foreign material. Each sleeve must be permanently marked with conductor size, die numbers, number of crimps, manufacturer's name or trademark and catalog number. Refer to the following table for compression sleeve Material ID, conductor size, length, color code and die requirements.
