1. Scope

This specification applies to a monofilament woven geotextile filter fabric. The fabric will be used primarily for construction of silt fences for soil retention in erosion and sediment control applications on construction sites. It will also be used for protecting drain grates against sediment ingress.

2. Material ID number

This specification applies to District Material ID Number 1000831.

3. Reference Standards

Except as modified herein, the filter fabric shall meet the applicable requirements of the latest revisions of the ASTM standards referenced in Figure 1.

4. Material and Color

The filter fabric shall be of monofilament polypropylene yarn construction, black in color, inert to biological degradation, and resistant to UV and naturally encountered chemicals, alkalis and acids. The filter fabric shall be highly durable and shall meet the minimum average property values identified in Figure 1.

5. Dimensions

The filter fabric shall be provided in neatly wound 3 ft x 300 ft rolls.

6. Labeling

The manufacturer's name and part number shall be marked on each package (each roll) of filter fabric.

7. Packaging

Rolls of filter fabric (3 ft x 300 ft) shall be shipped on nonreturnable wooden pallets suitable for handling with a forklift.
