1. Scope
This specification applies to flat-surfaced information cards similiar to the illustrated example. These cards shall be designed for outdoor applications. Each card shall be produced to allow information to be written on the card with all of the following instruments: pencil, ballpoint pen and waterproof marker.
2. Size
Size shall be specified by the District.
3. Grommet & Tie Wire
Cards shall have a A-828 (0.495" I.D.) brass eyelet and no metal tie wire included, unless specified by the District.
4. Hole
When specified by the District, each card shall have a 1/2" hole in the top center of the card, spaced 1/2" from the top edge of the card.
5. Flap
When specified by the District, each card shall have a clear self-laminating flap 0.002" thick.
6. Font
Copy legend shall be Helvetic-Narrow Bold, or District approved equivalent.
7. Thickness
Card material shall be 0.01" thick unless otherwise specified by the District.
8. Material
Cards shall be manufactured from Hop Industries Corporation Hop-Syn XT Grade Synthetic Paper, Polyester Film, or a District approved equivalent.
9. Outdoor Durability
Each card shall withstand environmental conditions encountered in the Puget Sound area of the Pacific Northwest for a minimum of 12 months without losing its legibility.
10. Packaging
Packaging requirements shall be given in the specific individual District Material Standards.
11. Identification
The following shall be marked in a District specified location, in black size 8 font: manufacturer's name or logo and District Material ID number for specific tag or card being manufactured. The marking shall not conflict with the intent or legibility of the card.
