4. Cabinet Construction and Features
Cabinets shall be equipped with top-hinged doors and shall be equipped with door stop to prevent inadvertent closing of door. Cabinets shall be equipped with hinge retainer or be otherwise designed to prevent door from inadvertently coming unhinged. Hinge pins, latching pad & recessed captive penta-head locking bolt shall be corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
Topcoat shall be dark green Munsell 7GY 3.29/1.5. Cabinet security features and finish shall meet or exceed the requirements of IEEE/ANSI C57.12.28, latest revision or alternatively IEEE/ANSI C57.12.29, latest revision.
Cabinets shall be designed with 9/16" x 1-1/8" slotted mounting holes to enable bolting down onto vaults from the inside (see Section 6 for details). The in-turned flanges at the bottom of the cabinet shall be overlapped or welded together at the inside corners to eliminate openings when the cabinet is bolted down. The cabinets shall be constructed so as to minimize flexing during switching operations.
Cabinets shall include field replaceable panel(s) each designed for centered, horizontal mounting of one junction module, which shall be installed by the manufacturer (see Section 5 for acceptable modules). These panels shall be made of stainless steel to resist corrosion. White or light gray colored mounting plates are preferred for enhanced visibility.
Panels shall be secured to the cabinet with corrosion-resistant stainless steel bolts. Each panel shall include two 1/2"- 13 UNC hex nuts to accommodate the District's bronze grounding connectors. Each cabinet shall have a minimum of two cable accessory parking stands per junction module. Parking stands shall be installed near each end of the junction module(s) either on the junction mounting panel or on a separate stainless unistrut rack.
A minimum of two cabinet grounding nuts with 1/2"-13 UNC thread shall be provided to accommodate the District's bronze grounding connectors.
Each cabinet shall come with a corrosion resistant, durable metal nameplate permanently affixed to the interior with rivets which states the date of manufacture as well as the manufacturer's name. Model numbers and serial numbers may be included at the manufactures discretion.
5. Junction Modules
Cabinets and field replaceable panel(s) for four way, 200A 15kV junction modules shall accommodate and come installed with any of the following 4-position, loadbreak junction modules: Cooper LJ215C4U, Hubbell 215J4U, or Elastimold 164J4-5.
Cabinets and field replaceable panel(s) for five way, 200A 15kV junction modules shall accommodate and come installed with any of the following 5-position, loadbreak junction modules: Cooper JBI25C5WU or Hubbell 615TM22222UI.
Cabinets and field replaceable panel(s) for four way, 600A 15kVjunction modules shall accommodate and come installed with any of the following 4-position, deadbreak junction modules: Cooper JBI25C4BU, Cooper DJ625C4U, or Hubbell625J4U.
