1. Scope
This specification applies to Class 1 polymeric outdoor isolated phase 15 kV cable terminators. The terminators shall be designed for use on jacketed and unjacketed (if specified by the District) concentric neutral underground cable on a 12.47 Grd. Y/7.2kV electrical distribution system.
2. Reference Standards
Except as modified herein, the terminators shall meet the applicable requirements of the latest revisions of IEEE 48 and ASTM D-2303.
3. Physical Characteristics
Terminator Body Length: 12" max. / Weathershed Diameter: 3.25" max. / Color: Sky Gray, ANSI No. 70
4. Construction
The terminators shall be a one-piece design with a silicone rubber insulator body enclosing an integral stress relief tube. The entire length of the silicone rubber covering, including the weathersheds, shall be one continuous, seamless piece of material. Weathersheds shall retain their original shape after severe deformation, must shed water and be self-cleaning with rain. Terminators shall be designed for cable installation utilizing an interference fit or a non-force fit Cold Shrink (PST) core and once installed shall form a watertight seal about the cable and compression stem connector. Terminators shall be compatible with linear low density polyethylene jacketed cross-linked polyethylene and ethylene propylene rubber insulated underground cables.
5. Cable Diameter Range
Cable terminators shall fit 15kV jacketed cables falling into the following nominal ranges for over insulation and over jacket diameters:

7. Identification
Each terminator shall be permanently marked with the manufacturer's name or logo and the date of manufacture. Each carton of terminators shall be marked with the manufacturer's name, type of terminator and terminator part number.

9. Packaging
Each terminator kit shall be individually packaged in a self-contained cardboard carton. The kit shall include the terminator, specified accessories (as indicated above) and installation instructions. Kit components subject to damage from contamination shall be further protected by packaging them in clear plastic bag(s) within the cardboard carton.
