1. Scope

This specification applies to heavy duty plastic barrier fence having an open web design comparable to that illustrated in Figure 1. The barrier fence shall be used to isolate potentially hazardous District construction sites from the public.

2. Material ID Number

This specification applies to the following District Material ID Number: 1000552

3. Reference Standards

Except as modified herein, the barrier fence shall meet the applicable requirements of the latest revisions of ANSI Z535.1, Safety Color Code.

4. Material and Color

The barrier fence shall be manufactured of a heavy duty plastic material. The material shall be Safety Orange in color.

Safety Orange shall be as specified in ANSI Z535.1. The material shall be of sufficient stiffness to exhibit minimal sagging under typical installation tensions. The material shall weigh approximately 0.045 lbs/sq ft, i.e., approximately 18 lbs per roll (4 ft x 100 ft roll).

5. Dimensions

The barrier fence shall be provided in a neatly wound 4 ft x 100 ft roll. The diameter of the roll shall not exceed 8-1/2 inches. The barrier fence shall have a web pattern designed and dimensioned comparable to that shown in Figure 1. The District shall be the sole judge of whether alternate patterns are acceptable.

6. Labeling

The manufacturer's name and part number shall be marked on each package (each roll) of barrier fence.

7. Packaging

The barrier fence shall be provided in 4 ft x 100 ft rolls. Each roll of barrier fence shall be individually packaged in a clear polyethylene bag or wrapping. Rolls of barrier fence shall be shipped on a nonreturnable wooden pallet suitable for handling with a forklift.
