1. Scope
This material standard applies to brackets for mounting cutouts or surge arresters on wood poles.
2. Material ID Numbers
This material standard applies to District Material ID No. 877300.
3. Reference Standards
Unless otherwise stated in this material standard, the pole mount brackets shall comply with the latest revisions of the following standards:
IEEE C37.42 - Specification for High-Voltage Expulsion Type Distribution Class Fuses, Cutouts, Fuse Disconnecting Switches and Fuse Links
ASTM A153 - Standard Specification for Zinc Coatings (Hot-Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware
ASTM A1011 - Standard Specification for Steel, Sheet and Strip, Hot-Rolled, Carbon, Structural, High-Strength Low-Alloy, High-Strength Low-Alloy with Improved Formability, and Ultra-High Strength
4. Construction
Pole mount brackets shall be:
- Fabricated of hot rolled carbon steel meeting the requirements of ASTM A1011.
- Free of sharp edges, burrs, cracks and other imperfections.
- Hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM A153.
5. Dimensions
Pole mount brackets shall be dimensioned per the following drawing:
6. Accessories
As labeled in Figure 2, each mounting bracket shall be equipped with a press fi t captive ½” x 1-½” hot dip galvanized steel carriage bolt. As specifi ed in Figure 2, a hot dip galvanized steel external tooth lock washer, split lock washer and hex nut shall be assembled on the captive carriage bolt.
7. Packaging
Mounting brackets shall be packaged 15 units per box. Boxes shall be secured with tape and delivered on pallets with a forklift accessible shipping bed.
