1. Scope
This Material Standard applies to brackets for mounting cutouts or surge arresters on wood or fiberglass crossarms.
2. Material ID Numbers
This Material Standard applies to the brackets assigned the following District Material ID Numbers:
761157 Fits 6"H crossarm, supplied w/ o carriage bolts (District will supply bolts)
761165
Fits 4"W x 6"H crossarm, supplied w/ 2-carriage bolts 3/8" x 6" and associated nuts and washers
3. Reference Standards
Except as modified herein, the brackets shall meet the applicable requirements of the latest revisions of the following industry standards:
IEEE C37.42 Standard Specifications for High-Voltage (>1000V) Expulsion-Type Distribution-Class Fuses, Fuse and Disconnecting Cutouts, Fuse Disconnecting Switches, amd Fuse Links, and Accessories Used with These Device
IEEE C135.1Standard for Zinc-Coated Steel Bolts and Nuts for Overhead Line Construction
ASTM A-153Standard Specification for Zinc Coating (Hot-Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware
4. Dimensions
Brackets shall be dimensioned as shown in Figure 1 on page 2 of this document.
5. Materials
Mounting brackets shall be manufactured from steel plate and shall be free of sharp edges, burrs, cracks and other imperfections. The mounting bracket shall be hot dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM A-153.
6. Identification
Each mounting bracket shall be permanently marked with the manufacturer's name, initials or logo.
7. Accessory Hardware
7.1 As shown in Figure 1, each mounting bracket shall be equipped with a press fit captive ½" x 1-½" hot dip galvanized steel carriage bolt. A hot dip galvanized steel external tooth lock washer, split lock washer and hex nut shall be assembled on the captive carriage bolt.
7.2 Mounting bracket assembly Cat. ID 761157 shall be provided without any bolts for mounting it on a crossarm.
The District will provide the mounting bolts as required.
7.3 Mounting bracket assembly Cat. ID 761165 shall be provided with hot-dip galvanized steel hardware consisting of two 3/8" x 6" carriage bolts with a minimum thread length of 3", assembled with round flat washers and square nuts. These two carriage bolts will be used for mounting the bracket on a crossarm.
8. Packaging
8.1 All of the pieces and accessory hardware that make up each mounting bracket assembly shall be packaged together as an individual unit.
8.2 Mounting bracket assembly units shall be packaged 15 units per box.
8.3 Mounting brackets and bolts shall not be wrapped with packaging tape that leaves a sticky residue on metal parts when removed.
