1. Scope

This specification covers the requirements for the District Rain jackets.

2. Reference Standards

Unless otherwise stated in this specification, the jackets shall comply with the latest revisions of the following Standards:

Industry Standards

NFPA 701 Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films
ASTM F1891 Standard Specification for Arc and Flame Resistant Rain-wear
ANSI/ISEA 107 American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Head-wear

3. General Requirements

Jackets shall be in compliance with Performance Class 3 high visibility background and retro-reflective material standards as listed in the latest revision of ANSI/ISEA 107.

3.1 Color

The jacket shall be fluorescent yellow in color

3.2 Fabric

The fabric shall be polyurethane on a weft knitted FR treated cotton. Fabric shall be Fire Resistant in compliance with NFPA 701 and ASTM F1891-06. All seams shall be heat-treated and serge stitched. The jacket shall include a 4" collar and a fully vented cape back with a D-ring access for a fall protection harness. A hanger loop shall be sewn in on the interior of the back neckline.

3.3 Length

The jacket shall be 30" long.

3.4 Closure

The jacket shall have a 2-way YKK heavy-duty nylon front zipper with a full length storm flap and a hook and loop closure to secure flap. Each jacket wrist shall have adjustment straps that are secured with a hook and loop closure.

3.5 Pockets

The jacket shall have 3 pockets, 1 patch pocket on each front hip and 1 on the upper left chest. Patch pockets shall be of double bellows construction and each pocket shall include a top flap with a hook and loop closure. The upper stress points of each pocket shall be riveted.

3.6 Sleeves

Sleeves shall have approximately a 5" facing up from sleeve hemline. The back and front panels shall be faced approximately 6" up from the jacket hemline.

3.7 Retro-reflective Film

The jacket shall have a 2" silver retro-reflective film around the chest front and back, vertically down front harness style to chest tape, parallel to shoulder seams on back vent, around upper arms and around lower arm 6" up from wrist hem.

3.8 Identification

The jacket shall have a water and UV resistant District logo "PUD" silk-screened on the back of the jacket. The logo shall be approximately 2-9/16" in height and 7-13/16" in width and shall be centered on the upper flap of the vented cape on the back of the jacket approximately 1-1/2" above the bottom of the cape hem.

3.9 Care Labeling

Jacket shall have a care marking and laundry labeling in compliance with ASTM Labeling Requirements and Items 10 and 11 of ANSI/ISEA 107 sewn into the underside of top flap on one of the pockets or inside the front lower left or right side of the zipper closure.

4. Packaging

Each jacket shall be individually packaged in a clear plastic bag with size labeling shown for shipping and storage.
