1. Scope

This specification covers the requirements for the District Rain pants.

2. Reference Standards

Unless otherwise stated in this specification, the rain pants shall comply with the latest revisions of the following Standards:

Industry Standards

NFPA 701 Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films
ASTM F1891 Standard Specification for Arc and Flame Resistant Rain wear
ANSI/ISEA 107 American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Head-wear

3. General Requirements

Pants shall be in compliance with Performance Class E high visibility background and retro-reflective material standards as listed in the latest revision of ANSI/ISEA 107.

3.1 Style

The pants shall be chest high overall type with a full front opening.

3.2 Fabric

The fabric shall be polyurethane on a weft knitted FR treated cotton. Fabric shall be Fire Resistant in compliance with the latest revisions of NFPA 701 and ASTM F1891. All seams shall be heat-treated and serge stitched. A hanger loop shall be sewn in on the interior of the waist back.

3.3 Color

The pants shall be fluorescent yellow in color.

3.4 Closure

The pants shall have a 2-way YKK heavy-duty plastic zipper closure with a hook and loop tab closure at the top of the opening.

3.5 Suspenders

The pants shall have an elastic suspender system with quick release connectors.

3.6 Legs

Each leg shall have a 14" leg zipper opening located on the back of each leg with a storm flap. The inside of each leg shall be faced approximately 6-1/2" up from the finished leg hem.

3.7 Retro-reflective Film

The pants shall have two 2" silver retro-reflective film strips on each leg. The bottom of the first stripe shall be approximately 6-3/4" from the finished leg hem. The bottom of the second stripe shall be approximately 11-1/4" from the finished leg hem.

3.8 Identification

The pants shall have a water and UV resistant District logo "PUD" silk-screened and centered on the upper left front of the overall chest. The logo shall be approximately 2-9/16" in height and 6-3/16" in width.

3.9 Care Labeling

Pants shall have a care marking and laundry labeling in compliance with ASTM Labeling Requirements and Items 10 and 11 of ANSI/ISEA 107 sewn into the inside of the upper back of the chest area.

4. Packaging

Each jacket shall be individually packaged in a clear plastic bag with size labeling shown for shipping and storage.
