- The most common application for the flat backed #2817 deadend tee will be to deadend conductors on steel transmission poles having flat surfaces where deadend tees were not provided for in the original pole design.
- After drilling bolt holes in a steel pole, spray-galvanize the edges of each hole to prevent corrosion. Use cold-spray galvanizing compound MID 464404.
- Specify two 3/4-inch diameter machine bolts with length as necessary to fit the pole diameter at the mounting height, plus a minimum of 3-inches to accommodate deadend tee and mounting hardware thicknesses. See Compatible Unit page R0600-R0665 for a selection of the District's standard length 3/4-inch machine bolts.
- The #2817 deadend tee has an ultimate tensile strength of 60,000 lb and a 3/4-inch machine bolt has an ultimate tensile strength of 18,350 lb.
