Notes:

  1. R1002 is the preferred clamp for use on 336.4 kcmil ACSR.
  2. R1007 is the preferred clamp for use on 795 kcmil AAC and ACSR.
  3. R1007 is the preferred clamp for use on 336.4 kcmil AAC and ACSR when armor rod is used.
  4. Recommended torque on keeper bolts: 20-25 ft-lbs.
  5. When used on line angles, clamps must be installed such that the line angle is bisected.
  6. The clamps shown in Figures 2 and 4 are reversible in the trunnion to accommodate both internal and external angles.
  7. The maximum allowable angle of turn (line angle) is not determined solely by the capability of the clamp. When clamps are mounted on upright line post insulators other factors that must be considered include: the strength of the structure (e.g., crossarm), the method of mounting, the conductor tension and cantilever strength of the insulator. For horizontally mounted line post insulator applications the conductor tension and the tension rating of the insulator will determine maximum allowable angle of turn. For cantilever loads, maximum loading should not exceed 40% of the insulator's ultimate cantilever strength or load rating. For tension and compression loads, maximum loading should not exceed 50% of the insulator's ultimate strength rating. (Reference: NESC, ANSI/IEEE C2-2012, Section 27, Rule 277.)
