Notes:
- Bird flight diverters are designed to make overhead lines and guyed structures more visible to birds. When marking conductors on multi-phase lines, overall visibility is improved by staggering the application of bird flight diverters. They are normally installed only on phase conductors and where present, on shield wires.
- When their use is necessary, bird flight diverters should be installed at 15 ft staggered intervals along each conductor as shown in Figure A or as appropriate for the framing. For conductor framings that do not fit the illustrated examples, contact Standards for recommended placement.
- Bird flight diverters may be applied either by hand on de-energized lines or by hot stick on energized lines.
- Contact Standards for assistance if bird flight diverters are needed for conductor sizes other than those indicated above.
