- Aeolian vibration is conductor vibration caused by low-velocity wind blowing perpendicular to the line. Unchecked, aeolian vibration can cause conductor damage due to fatigue, usually near the support points. Vibration dampers are placed on the line to limit the damaging effects of aeolian vibration. In the District's service territory, aeolian vibration is rare and usually confined to long spans crossing open terrain.
- C .U. H0501 and H0502 "dog bone" style vibration dampers are to be installed at the direction of Transmission Engineering.
- Install spiral vibration dampers, Compatible Unit H0505, on #2 ACSR distribution lines with spans over 500'.
Actual damper locations within the span is not critical.Span Length No. of Dampers per Span 501'-800' 2 801'-1,600' 4
