Notes:
- Underground electronic markers are to be installed at buried facilities and equipment that may need to be located.
- Underground markers can be located with 3-M EMS-II underground marker locators (MID 752106) which are available from the Tool Room.
- Full-Range underground electronic markers (C.U. F1211) must be installed flat and level, at least 6” directly above the object to be located. They must be covered with at least 4” of firm soil to prevent damage or movement during backfill. Installed correctly they may be detected at depths of up to 8 feet.
- Electronic ball markers (C.U. F1212) are self-leveling and can be detected up to 5 feet deep. They are best used to mark grade level facilities such as handholes and vaults. If necessary, marker balls may be secured in place with a 20" nylon tie (MID 874512).
- Note location of electronic markers attached to permanent facilities on the job sketch and return to Maps & Records so the marker location can be noted on Underground Drawings and in Netviewer.
- Electronic markers are reusable. Return markers to the Storeroom after retrieval.
